The Pines Farm

Cierra's Girl Scout troop had a wonderful time visiting The Pines Farm here in Maple Valley. We were all prepared for rain, but instead we had that glorious Washington SUN! Here are a few photographs & videos (I had to condense them for this web so the quality is poor) from the visit. (a few more are posted on my photoblog...... www.karladecampphotoblog.com - under blog)

AMERICAN IDOL

Okay okay so I know that I go a bit overboard with my concerts. But I can't help it. I love music. And I love to watch performers live. This summer will in fact be one of the most memorable summers ever...................Sarah McLachlan & Dave Matthews.........IN THE SAME SUMMER!!! And of course American Idol.
Cierra and I watch every year and then go to the concert when they tour the Tacoma Dome. This year we already have a few favorites.
MAMA'S FAVORITES: Lee, Crystal, Didi & Siobhan (still like Andrew too...and Lacey did an amazing job on Brandi Carlile's song last night)
CIERRA'S FAVORITES: Mike, Lacey, Lee, Crystal

Update!!!! Evidently I hit save draft instead of publish on this blog yesterday.....sooooooo I have to update my favorites!

All the same ones for me but I must say Mike did sing one of my favorite songs EVER and did very well....that song makes me cry everytime. Especially when Kate Bush sings it! Cierra gets a big kudos for having him as her favorite:) I also think shirtless Casey did very well. We voted for 6 of the 8 boys last night! I still adore Lee. That sexy Caleb Followill voice he has just gets me everytime!!!

Scott Firefighter Stairclimb for Leukemia & Lymphoma

At 788 feet of vertical elevation, the Columbia Center (formerly Bank of America Tower) in downtown Seattle stands as the second tallest building west of the Mississippi. It takes 69 flights of stairs and 1,311 steps to reach the highly acclaimed observation deck overlooking the city.

The Scott Firefighter Stairclimb supports the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, raising money through sponsorships, individual and department fundraising, and entry fees. In 2009, the event featured over 1,500 firefighters from 244 different departments and brought in a record $640,000 for blood-cancer research and patient services.

This was my brother's second year participating in the stairclimb. My mom & dad, Kenny, Cierra & I all went down to watch the climbers and to cheer on David. Family members are not allowed in the Columbia Tower, so we braved a windy Seattle day and watched as hundreds of firefighters from all over the country checked in for their climb.

Out of 1294 climbers, my brother was 135th. At lunch afterwards he said, "oh I feel so gross" that was how he knew he did good. Last year he wasn't pleased with how he did, feeling like he still had some energy after he finished. This year he looked whooped!

We are so proud of you David!

I took a gazillion more photographs of the event, some of which I'll post later on my photoblog.

My sweet JoDee Sue........oh how I love you!

I wanted to dedicate this posting to my dearest JoDee Sue. I know the pain you are feeling, the sadness. It just doesn't seem fair that things like this happen. Know that I love you and am always here for you.
I went out yesterday afternoon and took a little walk........ and found so many flowers and brilliant colors in bloom. It made me think of you and that amongst this saddness.....there is such happiness right around the corner for you! Love, DS

Oh how I love DAVE Matthews......and salmon burgers:)

Last year I swore that I would get my yearly Gorge tickets in pre-sales through the Warehouse! And I followed through and actually did:) It was so worth it!! I got reserved seating for all three nights with VIP parking each night! This will be my 7th year going....Kenny's 3rd. We have yet to figure out where we will be staying....but I have another month or so to figure that out. It would be wonderful to bring our Rhino and go 4wheeling during the day.....then camp for a few of the nights? Oh I'm just so stinkin' excited!

Kenny & I took a morning drive to Enumclaw today and realized that yes, this is where we will live someday. It is just the feeling we get when we drive through.....some may call it redneckish...but I feel like I'm HOME there. It is a beautiful mixture of Alaska and Guemes Island. The mountains surround the farmlands, and there is a drive through Starbucks in the middle of the town. My dream town.
So the plan has been made.....we will find a piece of property within the next year and in a year and a half we will build a garage (similar to moms and dads) on the property. Then while we live in the upstairs loft, we will build our house. With my dad & brother nearby Kenny will have lots of help:) While I'm at the drive thru Starbucks of course! j/k
I also want a pig. Maybe a cow too. And maybe a few chickens.

I just feel very giddy today. I suppose it has something to do with the fact that I am all amped up on sugar from the awesome bakery in Black Diamond.

Salmon burgers tonight. Yum.

Girl Scout Cookies!!!!!

I never knew how much went into selling Girl Scout cookies, nor did I know what a MASSIVE company it is. I volunteered to be the "Cookie MOM" this year for Cierra's Girl Scout troop. A few weeks ago my living room looked like this:) Over 1700 boxes of Girl Scout cookies!

We started site sales this past weekend. Cierra sold at Fred Meyer, Safeway (at two locations), Schucks Auto Supply, and Hobart Market. The girls in our troop sold 217 boxes this weekend, and we still have over 20 sites to sell at:)
Cierra sold up on the island last weekend and sold another 200 boxes all on her own! She is a little selling machine.
Today we sell @ the Goodwill here in Maple Valley with Ellie & Ann. It is a beautiful day outside, so it should be a wonderful day!

So my coffee just exploded in the microwave.......because I have last week's LOST on the upper screen of my computer and I got sidetracked! Wait...Jack has a son? Did I know that? How did that Samari dude end up at the recital? I am so confused!

I need to update my photo blog as well, www.karladecampphotoblog.com
so off I go!
Happy Day everyone!
